The public sphere in contemporary Western political theorizing

Abstract

       The public space is one of the contemporary concepts that reflect the crisis of the state and Western democratic authority, linked to the concepts of rationality, communication and eagerness of discussion to form rational public opinion, historically its roots extended to ancient Greek thought where (agora), and (Kant) is considered the most important founder of public space, linking it to civil society, putting conceptual concrete extended to contemporary thought such as rationality, enlightenment and freedom from commandments, and its basis is the use of reason, including its public use in public space, and from it to (Habermas), who discussed the problem of the bourgeois public space and presented its treatment, as well as (Hanna Arndt), up to (Nancy Fraser) transnational public space.
