تتناول هذه الورقة البحثية المحددات الجيوسياسية الأساسية لموقع أرمينيا وتأثيره على صياغة "الاستراتيجية الروسية تجاه جنوب القوقاز"، وذلك من خلال تبني منظور جيوسياسي نقدي ومزاياه الاستراتيجية.
ينطلق هذا البحث من فرضية مفادها أن روسيا تتعامل مع أرمينيا باعتبارها "موردًا أمنيًا" و"عقدة جيوسياسية" ضمن مشروعها "للدولة والحضارة" ومبدأ "الجوار القريب"، وتنظر إليها كأداة للهيمنة الروسية.
يستخدم البحث منهجية مركبة، تجمع بين أنظمة تحليلية لتفكيك وإعادة بناء مدخلات ومخرجات السياسة الخارجية الروسية. كما يوظف أدوات "الجيوسياسة النقدية" لتحليل الخطاب الروسي حول "العالم الروسي" وأرمينيا، ويستخدم منهجية "دراسات المستقبل" لاستشراف السيناريوهات المحتملة لدور روسيا في "حروب الممرات"، لا سيما في ممر زانغزور و"الممر الأوسط".
تناول البحث النتائج الفعلية والمحتملة لتراجع تفرد روسيا في التأثير على "أمن القوقاز" مع صعود أدوار تركيا والاتحاد الأوروبي، بالإضافة إلى تحول أولوية روسيا إلى "حسابات براغماتية وجيواقتصادية" من أجل "السيطرة على الممرات والتدفقات التجارية" من أجل "إبقاء أرمينيا في حالة "تبعية هيكلية" على المجال الأوراسي لروسيا.
