Abstract

The review article is considered one of the academic contributions that fall within the realm of theoretical studies in international relations, specifically within the realist school, which has remained dominant in explaining state behavior and the international system since the mid-20th century. The article focuses on two central ideas: the security dilemma and the balance of threat, and it attempts to integrate them within a broader framework of hegemony, allowing for an understanding of how the dominant power manages international relations and regulates strategic interactions between states.
