التنافس الروسي-الأمريكي على الطاقة في منطقة القطب الشمالي

تسعى الدول دائماً الى توفير مصادر الطاقة المتمثلة بالنفط والغاز تلبيتاً لاحتياجاتها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية وحتى السياسية غير مبالية بالأضرار التي تحدثها هذه المصادر عندما يتم استهلاكها وتحويلها الى مواد مضرة بالبيئة والتي تتراكم عبر السنين وتتحول الى كوارث يصعب معالجتها، وتسعى الدول محور الدراسة (روسيا الاتحادية،الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية) الى الولوج في مناطق جديدة للبحث عن مصادر جديدة للطاقة، لاسيما بعد التغيرات البيئية التي حدثت في الآونة الأخيرة والتي أدت الى ذوبان الجليد في منطقة القطب الشمالي، الأمر الذي أدى الى زيادة التنافس بين الدول المطلة على القطب الشمالي لاستغلال الثروات الموجودة التي بانت ملامحها نتيجة للاستكشافات المستمرة والتي أكدت على وجود كميات كبيرة من المواد الهيدروكربونية الكامنة تحت الجليد.
