The Sociology of Political Violence in Gaza: Reshaping Society under Extermination and Bombardment " A Study on Patterns of Social Discipline and Popular Solidarity during Ongoing Aggression”

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of political violence on the reshaping of social life in the Gaza Strip, adopting a sociological approach that views violence as a tool of social engineering, extending beyond destruction to encompass dimensions of genocide. A qualitative methodology was employed, including in-depth interviews with displaced persons and community actors, ethnographic observations, and analysis of international reports, to examine transformations in social space, solidarity patterns, and mechanisms of self-organization under war and extermination. Findings show that systematic political violence not only causes material destruction but also dismantles existing living spaces while generating emergent ones, where survival becomes the central determinant of social relations. The study concludes that violence in Gaza cannot be reduced to a military act; it is a social process that reconfigures authority and meaning, including genocidal dimensions, rendering the Palestinian experience a theoretical laboratory for understanding the interplay of violence, social organization, and resistance.
