Abstract

The garbage crisis in Lebanon and Tunisia has been seen through a political lens as it reflected the state's failure in managing public services and its inability to run the waste sector efficiently. This paper deals with the political dimension of the trash crisis and it studies the waste sector as an important sector with political significance that influences power relations and public affairs. This study aims to understand the political tenor of the problems related to urban services. Also, this paper seeks to contribute to the literature and political discourse by drawing attention to the political responsibilities linked to waste management.
