International intervention in contemporary Western political thought: A study of the concept, causes, and political theories

Abstract: The phenomenon of international intervention is one of the global phenomena that has presented itself forcefully on the international scene in the past and present. It is a reflection of power relations in the international system and has sparked controversy with its chaotic, competitive nature. The state uses its power potential if its political, economic and strategic interests are exposed to danger, and the phenomenon of international intervention has recently become the focus of attention of the entire international community, due to the multiplicity of international conflicts and the large number of interventions resulting from those conflicts, which have become a threat to international peace and security. The issue of intervention has sparked great controversy among philosophers, jurists, and political theorists, between those who reject the idea of intervention as it violates the sovereignty of states and contradict the United Nations Charter, and those who support it, considering intervention to be at the core of the work of the United Nations in order to maintain international peace and security.
